Ministry Backgrounder
For those of you who haven’t read my biography yet, please go back and read it or you may not understand the writings on this page. I mentioned in my bio that I graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Ministry from Briercrest Bible College. In March of 1995, I had applied to leave Briercrest in the fall to attend a technical institute to concentrate on officiating hockey but God had other plans. Briercrest announced the Sports Min. program the very week I was heading home for reading week and through a “Fleece” agreement with God (see Judges 6), I figured out that I was supposed to stay at BBC and graduate.
Athletes in Action, a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, supplied faculty for the course at the time and I got to know the director of AiA as well as a few of the staff. This became my ‘in’ at Crusade as I had a position with AiA before I left Caronport.
God had used my desire for Sports Ministry to get me into the Crusade office. I had no idea who Campus Crusade for Christ was at the time of joining staff. In fact it wasn’t until I attended my first staff conference that I knew how big it was. Well, AiA didn’t work out for me but God had prepared me through some other circumstances to move downstairs. I joined the Computer Services team and became a one man web design team, building the corporate sites for the ministry.
Then in August of 2001, I joined a new ministry created to streamline and co-ordinate web ministry at Campus Crusade. We came up with the name TruthMedia as our desire is to use media to broadcast God’s truth to the world.
As a commissioned staff member with Campus Crusade, I am also responsible for developing a team of prayer and financial partners for myself, as well as the ministry for certain projects.
